Announces its competitor output late April

After Apple, Google vat - it succeed in their place in the French mobile market Response in the coming weeks. Orange and SFR are both market their Google Phone, i.e. a phone equipped with the Android operating system developed by the Internet giant. Each operator will sell its own model: the Dream in Orange, the Magic in SFR. But the price will be the same: 99 euros. Another common point, these mobile are both manufactured by HTC. Taiwanese society today is the only one in the world to offer devices integrating the software promoted by Google.

Broiled politeness to SFR, Orange will sell its Google Phone tomorrow in its shops. Announces its competitor, output "late April". To go as fast, Orange will only market the first model equipped with Android designed by HTC and sold by T-Mobile since end of October in the United States. "We're here to learn a new operating system for mobile technology", says Jean-Marie Culpin, Director mobile marketing of Orange France.

For its part, SFR will commercialize the latest model developed by HTC and Google.

Presented last month in Barcelona, the Magic is distinguished mainly the Dream by the lack of a keyboard for the benefit of a single touch screen, which is not unlike the Apple iPhone. SFR has the exclusivity for three months, taking advantage of the European agreement between Vodafone (44 of LICO shareholder) and HTC.

Match with the iPhone

Despite these technical differences, the purpose of Orange and SFR is the same: facilitate mobile Internet and to increase the average revenue per subscriber. Apple has shown the way with his iPhone, sold to best 810.000 Orange since its launch in November 2007. And it is also the field that is at stake, the match between the two operators because SFR will sell to turn the Apple mobile from April 8. Remains whether if the Google Phone will be required to the iPhone. "The two motives are the general public, even if the Google a little more to the techies, says Laurent Lamé, marketing director of terminals at SFR.". The choice of the client will be based on the universe that he wants to find his mobile: that Apple or Google. "Google, which already seated its dominance on the Web in the PC world, hopes to expand its grip on the mobile Internet so that the Subscriber has anywhere access to these services (search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube... engine).

Orange, SFR and HTC communicate no sales goal. In the US, HTC shows have delivered approximately 958.000 units of its first Google Phone to T-Mobile between his release late October and the end of the year, half of which have actually been sold. Morgan Stanley believes that the iPhone has, at the same time, sold 1.75 million copies.

But the battle between Apple and Google could take another twist by the end of the year, as "running" on Android mobiles will multiply. "We speak already with HTC, Samsung, LG and Motorola on future phones", recognizes Jean-Marie Culpin, in Orange. The war has just begun.
